Lyn Palmer
I have always loved glass; of all kinds. I started working with glass in the 70s down in CA when my boys were young. I taught myself and made boxes: small, then with hinges and lids, then bigger and fancier. It was all old school. I have progressed from a bench grinder to a special glass grinder and better cutter, but I still have my own style. I finally took a class but the instructor was very frustrated with me, telling me I was doing it all wrong. I left and never took another class.
After we moved to Corbett in 1987, I branched out and started making lamps. I met Teresa Kasner and she told me about Larch Mountain Country Artisans so I joined. I stopped working in glass for a while but picked it back up when my son asked me to teach him how to work in glass. I have been doing it ever since. My son didn't enjoy it. I always thought he wanted me to get back into it and wasn't really interested. I am grateful to him. The joy of glass has always been with me and I have found that it is therapeutic and sometimes frustrating, but I will continue this art form for as long as I can. Thank you, LMCA, for your support and encouragement.
